Privacy Policy

SnowBase is built on a privacy-by-design philosophy: We collect zero personal data.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

SnowBase does not require an account, username, password, email address, or payment details. We do not set third-party tracking cookies or sell user information to advertisers.

2. Local Browser Storage (localStorage)

SnowBase stores limited preferences exclusively on your device using your browser's standard localStorage APIs:

  • snowbase_units: Your unit system preference (imperial vs metric).
  • snowbase_profile: Your selected activity profile (e.g. snowmobile-trail).
  • snowbase_saved_stations: Array of station slugs you have pinned to your favorites list.
  • snow:v1:[stationId]:forecast: Cached Open-Meteo forecast responses (30-minute TTL to prevent rate limits).

This data never leaves your browser and is never transmitted to our servers.

3. Third-Party Edge Hosting & Open-Meteo

Static assets are hosted via Cloudflare Pages. When you load a station page, your browser sends a direct anonymous HTTP GET request to the Open-Meteo public API to fetch weather parameters for that coordinate.
